Habitat for Humanity Guatemala is a legal NGO which works with low income families that do not qualify for credit or loans through banks or other traditional lending institutions, and who without Habitat would not be able to own a simple, decent home.
Global Village is a program with in Habitat Guatemala that hosts short term mission trips of international volunteer teams for one to two week stays. GV is a way for us to organize and efficiently utilize the amazing amount of volunteer resources that we receive from international volunteers.
Habitat works WITH families to enable them to build simple, decent, affordable homes with the aid of volunteers.
Habitat has been working in Guatemala since 1979 and has to date built over 21,800 homes, thus housing over 125,000 people. Every three hours a poor family in Guatemala begins building their own home with the help of Habitat for Humanity Guatemala.
Our work takes place throughout the country. We accept volunteers of any age, religion and background - no previous experience is required.
