Begin Anew of Middle Tennessee
Begin Anew exists to create a community where all individuals can experience transformation of body, mind, heart, and spirit.
Begin Anew of Middle TN empowers individuals to break harmful cycles caused by poverty by providing adult education, mentoring/encouragement, and other resources.
Overview of Begin Anew
Begin Anew serves women and men of all faiths and nationalities, between the ages of 19 and 56, who are undereducated or underemployed. These individuals do not have what they need to live adequately and have multiple barriers blocking their progress. Begin Anew’s goal is to help these individuals obtain self-sufficiency through employment, job training, education, housing, transportation, childcare, and medical care.
Each week, our students attend three hours of classes, attend one hour of Bible study, and meet with a mentor for one hour. The student chooses from one of four curriculums for weekly classes, High School Equivalency (HiSet), Computer and Job Skills, English as a Second Language (ESL), or Literacy. Free childcare is provided for children of students during class time. When students enroll, they develop their own Goal Plans to reach employment, educational, and personal goals.
