About Us
The Whiting Foundation has supported literature and the humanities for more than 50 years. Our annual literary programs include the Whiting Awards, given to ten emerging writers of fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and drama to empower the next generation of literary brilliance; Creative Nonfiction Grants to support the final stages of writing deeply-researched and imaginatively composed books; and Literary Magazine Prizes for print and digital publications to advance their crucial role as champions of writers. In the humanities, our grants advance the work of stewards of cultural heritage and high-school humanists. By nurturing new creations and expanding access to art and insight, we work to help bring about a world where everyone can engage deeply with the richness of literature and the humanities.
