Our program runs from our own small school in the center of Huaráz and provides a safe space for the children to do their homework and additional practice, with the help of our qualified teachers, plus local and international volunteers.
At Seeds of Hope, volunteers make up the majority of our workforce and are very important to the functioning of the organization. We always need volunteers to help at Seeds and welcome anyone who displays a positive outlook and enthusiasm.
There are many opportunities to partner with us, whether it is working directly with the children as a school tutor or through working with us on projects such as:
- Environmental education and Sustainability: e.g. recycling and gardening projects;
- Building construction and maintenance;
- Media and Communication: e.g. video and photography projects;
- Performing and Visual Arts workshops: e.g. puppet show and mural projects;
- English classes;
- Literacy and Numeracy: e.g. developing literacy learning resources and mental maths competitions;
- Health and Wellbeing: e.g. health education, sports and games to encourage physical fitness;
- Fundraising: e.g. fundraising events and merchandise;
- Social work: e.g. programs to raise self-esteem and prevent teenage pregnancy.
