African Diaspora United for Development

ADUD is a nonpartisan nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering, connecting, and strengthening African diaspora communities worldwide. We engage individuals, families, businesses, nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, agencies, and other partners in collaborative efforts that advance education, social and economic development, leadership, opportunity, and community well-being.

Our mission is to harness the knowledge, skills, resources, relationships, and collective strength of the African diaspora to create meaningful opportunities, support communities, and contribute to the sustainable development of Africa and its global diaspora.

Through service, partnership, advocacy, education, mentorship, and community-building, ADUD works to bridge people and opportunities, strengthen connections across generations and borders, and build a more united, informed, engaged, and empowered global African community.

African Diaspora United for Development (ADUD) was created around a simple but powerful idea: when members of the African diaspora connect their knowledge, experience, resources, talents, and networks, we can create lasting opportunities for individuals, families, communities, and future generations.

ADUD brings people together to HELP, UPLIFT, connect, educate, mentor, serve, and create opportunities within African diaspora communities in the United States and in partnership with communities across Africa.

Our work is guided by four interconnected ADUD frameworks:

• H.E.L.P. — Helping through practical, moral, in-kind and community-based assistance; Educating, Encouraging and Empowering; Leading Impactful Initiatives; and Promoting Philanthropy and Unity.

We carry these principles forward through programs and initiatives such as Getting Settled, the NEXUS Ecosystem, and the ADUD H.E.A.L.I.N.G. Initiative — Veterans Global Holistic & Integrative Health Bridge, as well as youth and community-development initiatives, diaspora civic engagement, professional and entrepreneurial development, and international partnerships.

Through our programs, partnerships, volunteer network, and community engagement, ADUD works to:

• Expand access to education, information, mentorship, professional development, and economic opportunity.
• Connect individuals, families, entrepreneurs, professionals, organizations, and communities with resources, networks, and opportunities that can help them grow and succeed.
• Support youth, families, professionals, entrepreneurs, community leaders, Veterans, and emerging changemakers.
• Strengthen connections between Africans on the continent, members of the African diaspora, and institutions committed to sustainable development and shared prosperity.
• Encourage volunteerism, service, mentorship, civic engagement, collaboration, and community leadership.
• Promote social and economic advancement through practical programs, capacity building, partnerships, and cross-sector collaboration.
• Create platforms through which diaspora knowledge, talent, professional expertise, experience, influence, and resources can be mobilized for collective impact.
• Build partnerships among nonprofit organizations, businesses, educational institutions, government stakeholders, professionals, volunteers, and community organizations.

ADUD is inclusive, collaborative, nonpartisan, and service-oriented. We welcome volunteers, professionals, organizations, institutions, businesses, community leaders, and partners from across sectors who believe in the power of community, cooperation, service, and shared responsibility.

There are many ways to contribute. Whether someone brings professional expertise, technical skills, lived experience, mentorship, creativity, leadership, time, connections, or simply a desire to serve, we believe that everyone can play a role in strengthening our communities.

Our goal is not simply to bring people together. It is to turn connection into action — helping people HELP one another, UPLIFT one another, create opportunity, and build stronger communities together.
