About Us

Butakoola Village Association for Development (BUVAD) is a not for profit organization which started its Nonprofit activities way back in 2000, got registered under the Gender and Culture Department of Kayunga District in Uganda (E.A) as a Community Based Organization (CBO) operational in Kayunga Sub County in 2006 and was approved by the NGO board of Uganda as a Non-Governmental Organization operational in Kayunga District, since May 2011. BUVAD is among the few local nonprofits that are intervening to help government in improving the lives of the people of Kayunga.

BUVAD has a vision of realizing an improved standard of living for the people of Kayunga District and Uganda as a whole.

Our mission is to promote human values for the people of Kayunga such that they may realize their full potential towards development for a sustainable living in future.

BUVAD’s current schedule of programs includes;

• Environment and Nature Conservation Project

(Construction of Rain Water Harvesting Tanks, Toilets and Other useful structures using waste plastic bottles as bricks to control their accumulation)

• Improvement of the educational status of the people in the focal areas.

• Support and care for the Orphaned – Vulnerable Youths and Children

• Water and Sanitation

• Women Micro Loan Programme

• Sexual and Reproductive Health Education and Decision to Right Contraception Guidance

• Networking and partnership with related agencies

The collective focus of Butakoola Village Association for Development is on achieving the following goals

Empowerment

To empower the people of Kayunga, neighboring Districts and network organizations with knowledge to overcome the key community challenges. BUVAD sensitizes beneficiaries through regular community seminars and projects on how to improve on some of the stinging problems in their homes especially poverty and health. This involves seminars on income generating projects, environmental conservation, primary health care, appropriate technology, basic financial management, cultural behaviors and conduct in society, lead implementation of large community development projects and setting up of a Resource Centre.


Enhancement

To enhance community awareness towards addressing climate change issues and taking the lead in devising adaptable, innovative means that address adverse effects of climate change issues.


Uplifting Women

Uplifting the living standards of women in their different categories. Women being the mothers of the villages and the nation as a whole, BUVAD helps them uplift their living standards through seminars, project and material support whenever possible. Many women, young and aged have been left behind as family bread wieners after the death of their husbands, daughters and sons.


Supporting & Caring

Supporting and caring for the Orphaned Vulnerable Children to sustainably attain a befitting future, considering the orphaned children, disabled children and those subjected to abuse in different categories as beneficiaries.


Medical Improvement

To improve on the medical facilities and the social infrastructure of BUVAD operational areas. BUVAD intends to support the improvement on the health centres in the areas that provide first aid and treatment to community members. BUVAD intends to empower community towards improving on the social infrastructure of its focal areas in Kayunga District. These include; schools, power supply, housing for the aged and disabled, safe water supply and other related facilities.
