About Us

The Alternative Fuel Foundation’s mission is to prevent used cooking oil generated by the food service industry from being used in animal feed and instead work with forward thinking companies to process it into clean burning bio-fuel that will later be used to heat homes, fuel vehicles, and power generators. Since biofuel produces near zero emissions every gallon burned offsets carbon that would have been generated from the use of traditional fossil fuels. We therefore have set out as our mission to ensure as much of this waste oil is diverted into domestic biofuels production, thereby reducing waste, carbon emission and building the domestic energy economy. Proceeds from the waste oil donations made to the foundation are used to fund growth as well as provide grant money to local schools and universities to sponsor projects that help promote our cause and the concept of sustainability.

The Alternative Fuel Foundation provides free waste cooking oil collection for restaurants located throughout New England and New York, and through its partners down to Pennsylvania. By choosing to partner with us, restaurants agree to donate their waste vegetable oil to the foundation in return for free collection and recycling services as well as a tax deduction for the oil collected (or cash payments).

The Alternative Fuel Foundation provides all of its partnering restaurants with free on-site containers to meet their storage needs. Restaurants also receive full membership and a listing on the LocallyGreen Marketplace (www.LocallyGreen.org), which provides multiple marketing opportunities designed to drive traffic to the member restaurants. This includes a listing on the Smartphone application with direct links to videos (uTube), pictures and reviews as well as quick links to Fourquare, Twitter and Facebook.
