    The mission of the Floyd County Historical Society is to keep alive an active interest in Floyd County history by collecting, preserving, and interpreting materials related to Floyd County.

    About Us

    The Floyd County Historical Society operates as the Floyd County Museum. The museum is open year-round, with staff onsite Tues-Saturday 8:30am-4pm, and open to the public Wed-Saturday 9am-4pm. The Floyd County Museum tells the story of Floyd County history through over a dozen unique exhibit spaces that visitors can enjoy. Also home to the largest archive of documentation from the Hart-Parr, Oliver, Minneapolis-Moline, Cockshutt, and White Farm Equipment tractor companies, the Floyd County Museum provides special services to antique tractor collectors by providing build information and manuals for the tractors that were once manufacture in or associated with Charles City, Iowa. The museum is housed in the historic Dr. Salsbury's Laboratory and Office Building which is on the National Register of Historic Places. The Floyd County Museum provides fun, engaging community events to people of all demographics on a regular basis. Of special interest is the Chautauqua Talks guest speaker series and the annual summer event, Heritage Fest.
