Colorado Refugee ESL Home Tutor Program
The Colorado Refugee English as a Second Language program, housed at Emily Griffith Technical College, strives to deliver high-quality English language instruction to newly arrived refugees. Caring teachers, administrators and volunteers throughout our organization provide the means for refugee students to obtain the acculturation, communication and literacy skills that are critical to survival and success in a new country. The Colorado Refugee ESL program at Emily Griffith Technical College provides English language instruction to newly arrived refugees. Refugees attend classes at Emily Griffith Technical College or study in a home setting with a volunteer tutor. The majority of the 1,500 adult refugees who come to Colorado each year spend some time studying in the CRESL classrooms at Emily Griffith Technical College or in the home-based program. The majority of the refugees who study in the home tutor program are women with small children, persons with disabilities, and seniors.
