About Us

The American Association of Geographers (AAG) is a nonprofit scientific and educational society founded in 1904. For more than 115 years, AAG has contributed to the advancement of geography. Geographers focus on the intersection of place, people, and the environment. With 12,000+ members spanning nearly 100 countries, the primary goal is to share interests in the theory, methods, and practice of geography, which is cultivated through AAG’s Annual Meeting, Regional Division Meetings, through scholarly journals, and the association’s online newsletter. AAG members are geographers and related professionals who work in the public, private, and academic sectors.

AAG, an equal opportunity employer, values diversity and is committed to providing an environment free from discrimination and harassment as defined by federal, state and local law. As such, AAG does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, national or ethnic origin, sex, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, age, disability, veteran's status, or genetic information in its hiring or programming.
