About OPEN

The Online Progressive Engagement Network (OPEN) is a not-for-profit organization that supports digital campaigning groups in 20 countries to share knowledge, build connections across borders, and run collaborative campaigns on a range of issues, all in order to win progressive change.

OPEN is a small international team of campaigners, operations and technologists. We work to support a Network of 20 digital campaigning organizations, each an independent, non-profit, nationally-based organization working on multiple issues, but all sharing a common set of values and a general strategic orientation. Groups in the network tend to work on climate change, human rights, gender and racial justice, economic fairness, strengthening democracy, and empowering individual people to lift their voices to make change in their community and their country. Taken together the network counts a combined membership of over 24 million citizens in 20 countries over 6 continents.

Our model emphasizes people-power: we believe that change comes when people work together in their communities. Our member organizations together enable the engagement of millions of people around the world. As a team, it’s OPEN’s job to support the staff who do that work. By providing resources directly to – and building deep connections between – the staff and volunteers who support these grassroots change-makers, OPEN strengthens and expands the global progressive movement. We help our member organizations become more powerful, efficient and wise by connecting, supporting and inspiring each other across borders.
