About Us

Outride is a public non-profit dedicated to improving the lives of youth through cycling. Our activities focus on three areas: primary scientific research, school-based cycling programs, and the creation and support of cycling communities. With nearly 200 middle school cycling programs in North America, Outride uses cycling to support and advance academic, health, and social success, while also lowering the barrier to entry for the sport of cycling. This year, Outride is bringing cycling to almost 50,000 youth, in addition to making over $500,000 in matching community grants to 76 organizations in support of youth development programs and trail building projects around the US.

Outride is committed to breaking down barriers so that all kids have access to bicycles and safe places to ride. We know bicycles improve the health of our youth. We believe bicycles also have the ability to bring opportunity, agency, and freedom to riders. Bicycles have the potential to make lives better, beyond winning races. They bring people and communities together, motivate us to become better humans, and help us take advantage of what the world has to offer.
