    Children's Literacy: The American Youth Literacy Foundation (Youth Lit) provides free tutoring in literacy skills to students in 1st-5th grades. Youth Lit recruits and trains high school student volunteers to become children's literacy mentors and then places these volunteers in YMCA aftercare programs, public libraries and other non-profit community outreach programs to provide one-on-one coaching to underprivileged and under-served students who need help with reading skills development.
