Origins
The idea for a science fair for area elementary and middle school students originated in 1987 with Dr. Joyce Freeman and Dr. Janice Freeman at Corpus Christi State University (now Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi). The faculty of TAMUCC's College of Education and Human Development and the College of Science and Engineering feel that students should be given the opportunity to gain practical and hands-on experience in all areas of science. Therefore, the University has continued to be a major sponsor of the regional fair since its inception.
Through the successful pursuit of our commitment, we expect to:
a) Make observations
b) Ask questions about particular phenomena or situations
c) Formulate ideas/predictions about the solution to a problem
d) Develop and carefully follow procedures to arrive at answers or solutions to a problem
e) Effectively present and communicate his or her work to society
