Mission
The Mission Statement of the Lexington Philharmonic Orchestra Society: To present high quality orchestral and chamber music performances to citizens of Central Kentucky and the Commonwealth of Kentucky; To contribute to the cultural and artistic life of the area by collaborating with other arts groups; To present a variety of musical styles and formats, ensuring accessibility and wide audience appeal to diverse ethnic groups; To keep audiences and musicians at the forefront of artistic trends by commissioning and premiering new works by contemporary composers; To inspire a love of music and the arts through educational programming; To aspire to perform the highest aesthetic function of art; To nourish the minds and hearts of listeners of all ages and; To establish ongoing financial support for the continuation of performances for future generations of musicians and audiences.â Â
About Us
The LPO has been serving the Lexington metropolitan/Bluegrass area and its outlying communities for more than 30 years. The Orchestra, which consistis of nearly 100 musicians, offers more than 230 performances a year including: MasterClassics Series; Pops!theSeries; Discovery Series (Young People's Concerts); Music In Your School Ensembles; Instrument Petting Zoos; Peanut Butter and Jelly Concerts; Lexington Philharmonic On Tour, as well as the SPOKES Chamber Music Series, which reaches out to communities surrounding the Lexington-Bluegrass area, and the HUB Chamber Music Series, which offers unique concert programs to underserved populations in the area. The Orchestra is supported through grants and private donations.
