  • Mission

The SDCAS Mission: To promote the importance of cultural resources through education and preserve them in partnership with Tribal and other communities.

    About Us

The San Diego Archaeological Center was founded in 1993 by a group of San Diego's foremost experts in California history and the field of archaeology. Their vision was the creation of a repository for the preservation, care, research, management and public exhibition and use of the millions of archaeological artifacts that have been uncovered due to the extensive development in the San Diego Region. The Center's collections represent 10,000 years of history.

The Center operates in full compliance with all applicable Federal, State and local laws and regulations regarding the collections in its custody.

Center programs, outreach and exhibits reach many thousands of individuals annually.

Volunteer opportunities include: Museum docents, Educational support, Landscaping and grounds maintenance, and Board membership.
