Chosen Family Law Center’s mission is to cultivate equitable social and legal recognition of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, Asexual (LGBTQIA+) and polyamorous families and individuals, as well as other underserved non-nuclear family forms such as platonic co-parents or multigenerational families. We enact our mission through three programmatic avenues: direct legal services for low-income New Yorkers; legislative drafting and advocacy; and professional and public education programs for lawyers, judges, therapists, social workers, and the general public.
Our mission-driven, high-performing team is small, collaborative, and made up of members of the communities impacted by our work. We prioritize a client- and community-led, trauma-informed, and accountability-focused perspective. The ideal candidate will share those values and be excited to collaborate on building the world we want to live in. We also highly value our ability to bring our whole selves into the work and are committed to supporting each other’s holistic well-being, continued professional development, and liberation.
We are passionate advocates with a deep commitment to justice, and welcome diverse educational, professional, and lived experiences. Chosen Family Law Center is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to building the leadership of people of color, women, transgender, intersex, and gender non-conforming individuals. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, creed, color, gender, gender expression, gender identity, age, ethnicity, immigration status, national origin, sexual orientation, religion, HIV status, disability, family composition, or marital status.
