CENTER FOR HOLISTIC DEVELOPMENT

The Center for Holistic Development, Inc. (CHD) was founded in June 2001 by Doris Moore to be a catalyst in providing an alternative to traditional behavioral healthcare by educating and attending to the needs of the whole person using a S.P.E.C.I.A.L. approach. Our programs and services are designed to prevent, educate, outreach, and intervene in emotional and mental health concerns that impact the successful negotiation of a person's goals and quality of life. Each of our services are uniquely designed to culturally, linguistically, and developmentally appropriate to meet the needs of children, youth, and adults. Programs and services include: REAL TALK - an education program designed for middle school youth to encourage and teach social and emotional competence. Urban Youth B.O.L.T (Building our leaders today) is a leadership program for those youth who identify with the African American culture and designed to use the Black history experiences and the principles of Kwanzaa to challenge youth to adopt positive behaviors and strategies for success. KidSquad is a collaborative approach to teaching childcare center staff and students appropriate ways to reduce challenging behaviors through a positive behavior support framework. Parenting with a Purpose uses evidence based techniques to enhance nurturing and parent engagement to increase positive behaviors in children. Outpatient behavioral health counseling provides clinical services to address mental illness and substance abuse issues for individuals, families, and couples of all ages.
