Ballard Food Bank
Ballard Food Bank’s mission is to bring food and hope to our neighbors...because there can be enough for everyone. To achieve our mission, we provide access to nutritious foods and services that support self-sufficiency, and we advocate for food equity and justice.
Providing access to nutritious foods through direct food service is at the core of our mission. Individuals and families who find themselves living below the poverty level must have their needs met. Our food bank program, home delivery, and weekend food for kids program help individuals in our community access nutritious food.
In 2015, there were 38,872 visits to the food bank and we distributed more than 1.4 million pounds of food. In addition, our Emergency Financial Assistance Program met the needs of individuals with rent assistance, utility shutoff prevention, and ID cards over 800 times.
Each week, on average, we serve more than 1,200 individuals at the food bank, bring food to over 200 students in 15 public schools through our Weekend Food For Kids program, and deliver groceries to 100+ homebound clients in our Home Delivery program.
