American Cancer Society Discovery Shop Fremont

  • Mission

The American Cancer Society is the nationwide, community-based, voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives and diminishing suffering from cancer, through research, education, advocacy and service.

    About Us

There are over 40 Discovery Shops in California, owned and operated by the American Cancer Society, selling only the best gently used clothing, furniture and collectibles. There is limited paid staff per shop, with the remaining staff made up entirely of Volunteers. The Volunteer base of each shop ranges from 45 to 125 of the most dedicated, hardworking and loving human beings. Many of these volunteers have been touched by cancer in some personal way and their passion for their generous contribution of time, energy, skills and spirt runs very deeply. Net proceeds from Discovery Shops fund research, education, advocacy and patient services. These programs and services are in direct relationship to reaching 2015 American Cancer Society goals, which include reducing cancer mortality by 50%, incidence by 25% and improving the quality of life for all cancer patients.
