About Us

Our Mission

To improve the quality of life for Morris County families by addressing economic, educational and social needs while preserving the cultural and ethnic diversity of the area.

Our Goals

The goals of the Spring Street Community Development Corporation include but are not limited to:

-upporting youth through educational programming

-To be a be a place where hope starts and the community gathers to share, by providing free dinner Monday thru Friday and running a food pantry

-Create healthy actions thru nutrition & group exercise, ensuring our community has access to fitness and educational information on how to maintain healthy with healthy food choices

-Promoting, coordinating, supporting and providing social and community services to families

-Fostering and participating in regional planning and development so as to support the efforts of local governmental units

-Protecting and preserving the natural resources while promoting their sustainable use

-Improving the availability of safe and affordable housing

-Expanding opportunities for individuals and groups to own and operate business enterprises Reducing unemployment and underemployment

Our 3 Programs

SOAR - Student Outreach & Academic Reinforcement began September 2011. Enhancing the academic and social development of 5th graders through educational support, mentoring and enrichment opportunities. Connecting disadvantaged youth and a caring community through partnerships with the Morristown School District, the College of St. Elizabeth, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and Prevention is Key, Family Promise and Bethel A.M.E. Morristown Church. Students work with college students and teachers who identify areas requiring enrichment and work to strengthen those areas. In addition, students receive test taking skills aimed at improving their performance on the NJASK exam.

C.H.A.N.G.E. Fitness Founded January 2012. Making exercise available to anyone in the Morris County Area. Offering group exercise classes and nutrition information using [[http:MyPlate.gov|MyPlate.gov]] Classes are a low cost or no cost, if need is proven. Supporting lifestyle changes, boosting self-esteem and most importantly fighting the obesity epidemic

Meals served daily, Mon. through Fri. 5:30pm - 7:30pm

For Homeless, single families and individuals, no fees or charges

Food Pantry also available.
