    Laafi

    has supported development initiatives in Burkina Faso since 2001.

    The association

    benefits from a training structure in Koudougou (3rd city in Burkina) where it employs 23

    employees. This structure called Laafi village includes a kindergarten (120 children), a library,

    two restaurants, a carpentry welding workshop, a computer center, a permaculture garden and a

    cultural scene.

    Since

    2003, it supports and relies on Wend Puiré, a local association which has particularly developed

    beekeeping development initiatives in Burkina Faso, convinced that beekeeping can be a

    additional income for farmers. The program takes place in 9 regions of Burkina Faso and counts

    present more than 6000 beekeepers divided into 80 groups, all fully equipped, trained and

    accompanied.

    In

    2019, 250T of honey were marketed in Burkina Faso; as well as derived products (honey liqueur,

    propolis, candles, soaps, beeswax). Laafi is in charge of marketing in France.

    The association

    is mainly active in the following areas

    • Education: kindergarten, sponsorship of around twenty school children per year (primary and secondary cycles), library available to the local population

    • Vocational training: center dedicated to computer training (office automation, web),

    • Culture: support for local artists by providing a stage, and equipment and musical and theatrical training. About ten cultural events are organized each year.

    • Beekeeping through the training and manufacturing of hives and more recently the promotion of Apisavana honey in France (mango honey, Néré, Shea, Citrus, etc.)

    • Agroecology: training project for women in agroecology, awareness of environmental protection and food sovereignty in nursery schools

    • Solar Energy: solar installation project in Koudougou and solar energy training for young students
