Mission
At Kids Operating Room, our mission is to transform surgical care for children in low-resource settings by providing fully equipped, state-of-the-art solar-powered pediatric operating rooms and investing in the training and development of local surgical teams. We believe every child deserves access to safe surgery, regardless of where they are born. Through strategic partnerships with governments, hospitals, and international health organizations, we work to strengthen healthcare systems and deliver sustainable solutions that empower local communities to provide life-saving care for their children.

About Us
Kids Operating Room is the only global charity dedicated to bringing safe surgery to children in some of the most challenging and underserved areas of the world. We save children's lives and prevent lifelong disabilities by building dedicated, solar-powered pediatric operating rooms in low-resource settings and conflict zones, while providing comprehensive training for local healthcare professionals. This ensures surgical teams have the skills and resources necessary to sustainably care for their nation's children.
Since 2018, we have established 100 pediatric operating rooms across 35 countries, delivering safe, life-changing surgery for children in some of the most challenging and hard-to-reach areas of the world, including Africa, Latin America, Southeast Asia, and the world’s first pediatric OR in a refugee camp in Kenya. Our work has recently been highlighted in a BBC short film, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bDV9qz0nkbM, and we were honored to receive the .ORG Impact Award (https://pir.org/for-orgs/org-impact-awards-2024/winners/) last fall in Washington, D.C. in the Health and Healing category.
