About Us
Homeward works to end homelessness in Greater Richmond. Homeward was created to serve as the backbone organization for the regional collective impact work to end homelessness. Founded in 1998, Homeward's mission is to prevent, reduce, and end homelessness by facilitating creative solutions through the collaboration, coordination, and cooperation of regional resources and services. Homeward serves as the lead agency for the Greater Richmond Continuum of Care (CoC) which includes serving as the collaborative applicant for federal and state funding; providing homeless management information system (HMIS) access to CoC providers and overseeing data collection, reporting, and training and ensuring funder requirements are met; coordinating the winter and summer point-in-time counts; and serving as a representative of the CoC around issues of homelessness.
