Ventura County Farm to School Collaborative
Ventura County Farm to School (VCF2S) is a collaborative of school districts, child nutrition services directors, teachers, nutrition educators, farmers and community organizations working to promote healthy eating, local produce and scratch cooking in school meals, and hands-on nutrition and agricultural education in school cafeterias, classrooms, gardens and farms for schoolchildren throughout Ventura County. VCF2S coordinates Farm to School procurement and education activities across school districts to share resources and learnings, test and spread innovations, and leverage our collective voice and purchasing power. We work with leaders in participating districts to develop Farm to School strategies, plans and programs; train and support Farm to School champions; and support institutionalization and integration of Farm to School goals and activities in district policies, budgets, curriculum, and school meal programs. Since 2013 VCF2S has reached more than 69,000 K-12 students each year and is a recognized local and national leader in the Farm to School movement.
