August Scholars

  • About Us

August Scholars is a three-week, no-cost, academic summer program for children in Boston who are in need of academic support in the summer and who would otherwise not be able to afford such programming. The typical August Scholar is a student who is achieving below grade level or struggling to maintain grade level during the school year. A central focus of our work is to help the children develop more positive attitudes about themselves and school, and to experience daily the relationship between hard work and achievement. The school day for Scholars is from 9:00-3:15 and every day they do work in math, reading, writing and vocabulary development. Our goal is to show them with pre and post testing that they can make significant gains in a short period of time if they work hard and have a good attitude.
