Long Story Short

Although Recife is one of the largest cities in Brazil, it still has enormous social differences. We are located in a region where the poorest social classes had to build stilts in the water on the banks of the river Capibaribe, one of the biggest slums in the region, and in this context arises the Institution AGIR.

Institution Agir was formed by a priest who really believes the power of NGO could change the future of kids from disadvantaged family. Since we were established in 2008, we have accepted 250 kids in total. We offer a variety of classes for them such as English, Maths, IT, football and Judo. In addition, we are not only helping the kids but also their families continuously. We are a legal working organization with no intention to make any profit. Each month, the operation cost of 19,000 US dollar is covered by local sponsors, which our telemarketing team approaches.

However, our NGO has already reached our full capacity and we are willing to expand our size by two times. We aim to create more classrooms and hire more teachers to help more kids from the local community. To achieve this, the most crucial thing for us to do is buying the premises and build more classrooms . Therefore we really need your help to make this happen. Your donation will be greatly appreciated.

Who We Are

Hannah Han, Lein Mann and Adler Delgado, Ralph Corban, Edoardo Vigo and Firnando Buenayre students and volunteers from AIESEC London, Oslo, Lima, Lebanon, Turin and Indonesia (respectively). We came to spend our university vacation in Recife, Brazil, to assist Institution AGIR in increasing their visibility in the community and broaden their resources with marketing and managerial knowledge.

We are overwhelmed by what Institution AGIR has achieved so far in terms of the capacity, fundraising abilities, educational support and a variety of recreational courses and activities. However, we are aiming to sustain in the long term, amplify our impact and offer scholarships for youth to engage in higher education. We truly believe in the necessity of volunteers and external support within NGO’s in Brazil.

What We Need

We need to raise 200,000 USD in order to buy the premises and enlarge it with construction work to increase our capacity of children from 250 to 500.

Today we have a functioning telemarketing team who work on raising funds from local sponsors. Unfortunately, the money we raise from local contributions barely allows us to maintain the organization and not invest in future projects.

That is why we are approaching international sponsors. Our impact as an organization that takes care, uplift and empower the future generation could be larger and much more significant.
