  • Mission

The New York Immigration Coalition aims to achieve a fairer and more just society that values the contributions of immigrants and extends opportunity to all. The NYIC promotes immigrants’ full civic participation, fosters their leadership, and provides a unified voice and a vehicle for collective action for New York’s diverse immigrant communities.

    About Us

The New York Immigration Coalition is an umbrella policy and advocacy organization for nearly 200 groups in New York State that work with immigrants and refugees. The NYIC is a leading advocate for immigrant communities on the local, state, and national levels, serving one of the largest and most diverse newcomer populations in the United States. The NYIC’s multi-ethnic, multi-racial, and multi-sector membership base includes grassroots community organizations, nonprofit health and human services organizations, religious and academic institutions, labor unions, and legal, social, and economic justice organizations. The NYIC provides both a forum for immigrant groups to share their concerns and a vehicle for collective action to bring about positive social change locally and nationally. Since its founding in 1987, the NYIC has evolved into a powerful advocacy voice, developing innovative policies, promoting and protecting the rights of immigrants and their family members, improving newcomers’ access to services, developing leadership and capacity in immigrant communities, expanding civic participation, and mobilizing member groups to respond to emerging issues and needs.
