One World’s mission is to transform students into writers with voice, knowledge, and purpose. Our vision is that all students become effective writers and communicators.

We believe that the instruction and learning of writing is one of the most challenging and neglected skills in education. With strong curriculum and respectful training, we believe that educators can create life-changing research and writing experiences for their students. Students choose their own social justice issue topics. Engagement soars when students write about things that are relevant to their lives.

A recent independent evaluation found that 90% of DC schools using the One World Program during the past two years have made statistically significant writing gains in research and argumentative writing skills aligned to Common Core State Standards. One World has served more than 35,000 students in the Washington, DC region during the last dozen years.
