All Voting is Local (AVL), a campaign of The Leadership Conference Education Fund and The Leadership Conference on Civil & Human Rights, fights year-round against state and local voting policies that silence Americans’ voices, with a special focus on historically disenfranchised communities. We call on state and local officials to make voting accessible to every community and hold these officials accountable when they fall short. Working across eight states (AZ, FL, GA, MI, NV, OH, PA, WI), our staff of 28 engages grassroots power-building, data analysis, and strategic communications to build a democracy where every voter can cast a ballot that counts.
After the largest voter turnout in over a century with 160 million voters participating, even amidst a global pandemic, decision-makers are now launching blatant attacks on the right to vote in states nationwide. To many voters, casting a ballot is the ultimate step in participating in our democracy, however for us, that is just the beginning. AVL aims to harness the progressive momentum of 2020 to mobilize that grassroots energy in an ongoing effort to protect the freedom to vote all year round, so that come the next election, all voices can be heard. While Congress and the courts struggle to protect voters, and state legislatures work to make it harder to vote, we will work to empower voters —the true power center in our democracy— to effect positive change in their own communities by calling for fairness, transparency and equality in the way elections are run.
