About Us

The Fund for the City of New York was established by the Ford Foundation in 1968 with the mandate to improve the quality of life for all New Yorkers. For five decades, in partnership with government agencies, nonprofit institutions and foundations, the Fund has developed and helped to implement innovations in policy, programs, practices and technology in order to advance the functioning of government and nonprofit organizations in New York City and beyond. In carrying out that mission, the Fund operates its Partner Project Program, which provides management, fiscal and human resource support to start up projects and existing nonprofits.

Trauma Smart is a Partner Project of the Fund and is an innovative, model of trauma informed practice, utilized by early childhood professionals, parents and mental health providers. We work with early childhood programs to create safe, healthy environments for children to learn, grow and succeed. The program is a community prevention program of Crittenton Children’s Center in Kansas City, MO.
