RCC SPORES (Sustainable Plant Operations and Environmental Stewardship) Lab

  • Mission

The RCC SPORES lab intends to make healthy, sustainable food available to our community through education and practice. We strive to develop small footprint garden plots by utilizing local materials and considering the local climate and soil conditions. We also enable the education of RCC students by providing outdoor laboratory space. We support students and community members interested in sustainable gardening methods and ultimately we hope to contribute to an effective and accessible local food system.

    About Us

About:The RCC SPORES lab is staffed by volunteers who prepare, plant, and care for the garden. Volunteers are not expected to arrive with garden expertise. The students, staff, and faculty who already volunteer in the garden will train you to improve your gardening know-how. All volunteers get the chance to improve their gardening skills and share the harvest!

When can I volunteer?: Fall volunteer days are as follows:

    Tuesdays 6:30-8pm

    Fridays 8:00-9:30am

You can either contact the SPORES lab coordinator, Preston Galusky, or just show up to a work day.

Where is the farm located? Next to the Math and Science Building on the RCC campus. Look for the white gazebo!
