Start the Adventure in Reading

STAIR is a tutoring program in reading for second-grade public school students reading below grade level. There are 25 tutoring locations in Orleans, Jefferson, St. Tammany and Plaquemines Parishes. Tutoring takes place after school or on Saturday mornings. Volunteer tutors attend a STAIR training class and are then assigned a student at the location of their choice. The tutors commit to one or two days a week tutoring the same child. The bond that the tutor and child form strengthens and intensifies the learning process.
