  • Mission

The Literacy Council of Reading-Berks is a volunteer, non-profit organization that teaches reading, writing, oral and auditory English skills, and their applications in daily living, to the English and non-English speaking adult population of Berks County, through one-on-one tutoring and conversation classes.

    About Us

Our goal at the Literacy Council is to help people reach their goals as parents, workers and members of the community. We do this by providing free services to hundreds of clients each year. Our volunteers are trained to meet one-on-one with a student in order to work on specific needs. We also hold conversation classes for our English-as-a-second-language learners. Our main facility in West Lawn houses our computer lab where students and tutors can learn together or independently. We serve people across the county and city, and ALWAYS NEED YOUR HELP!
