Our Neighborhood Homework House
Our mission is to help Azusa's economically and educationally at-risk PK-12 students to advance academically in a supportive setting through parent involvement, mentoring relationships, community partnerships, and spiritual support.
Our approach to meeting the needs of the community is to not only help students get the tools they need for better academic achievement, but equip their families to provide the motivation for higher achievement through workshops, partnering as an advocate at their children's schools.
Neighborhood Building Because of the critical importance of family and community support within neighborhoods, NHH organizes and supports a Parent Advisory Group to facilitate community action and collaboration in neighborhoods that we serve. Workshops are offered to parents in their home language in order to equip them with the tools to ensure the pursuit of higher education in their families, provide the necessities (food, clothing, housing, medical, etc.), and expand their knowledge on the U.S. education system.
K-8 Program The K-8 program is designed to pair tutors in 2:1 or small-group interactions to focus on academic success. The tutors serve as mentors to these students, celebrating their successes, remembering their special occasions and engaging in activities with students outside of their neighborhood.
Teen Project The Neighborhood Teen Project (NTP) has been designed to challenge our growing teen population to achieve their fullest potential in high school, set career goals, prepare for college and develop the life and leadership skills necessary to achieve their goals.
