District of Columbia Baptist Convention

Founded in 1801, the District of Columbia Baptist Convention (DCBC) consists of 150 churches in the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Northern Virginia, and is affiliated with the American Baptist Churches USA, the Southern Baptist Convention, and the Progressive National Baptist Convention.

Our churches vary in size, worship styles and ministry activities but each one is committed to building God’s kingdom in our community, nation and world.

DCBC is committed to strengthening our member churches to advance God’s kingdom. We strive to support our member churches by providing ministry resources and opportunities for networking, fellowship and training, and by undergirding their programs and activities.

Our slogan points to the vision, mission and values of DC Baptists:

One Faith. Many Cultures. Endless Possibilites.

One Faith, which is reflected in scripture by Ephesians 4:5 (“One God, one faith, one baptism”), points to a spirit of unity and sharing a common goal as well as an understanding that despite different cultures and backgrounds, we serve the same God.

Many Cultures, represents the diversity that exists within DCBC congregations and member churches.

Endless Possibilities, signifies the products and services DCBC can offer to our member churches, the potential that comes from church-to-church cooperation and the possibilities available to a church that clearly understands and pursues its purpose.
