Bronx Westchester Area Health Education Center
- New York
BW AHEC offers Summer Health Internship Programs that target Bronx and Westchester County high school and college students with an interest in the health fields. Students are exposed to a variety of careers in the health professions and issues affecting health in their communities. Students are placed in health care settings three or four days a week (depending on academic grade/level) and participate in a mandatory didactic session weekly at Lehman College. These sesions encompass a full day and include lectures, field trips and other health-related activities. Students who successfully complete the Summer Health Internship Program (SHIP Grades 11-14) or the Health Career Bridge Program (HCIP College Juniors, Seniors and Post Bacs) will emerge with newfound connections, job readiness skills and insight into the world of health care.
