About Us

Arlington Independent Media (AIM) is a nonprofit membership organization and community media center in Arlington, Virginia. We provide training and access to media technologies, and facilitate the creation of video, audio, web and digital content. AIM is committed to cultivating the voices in our community that might otherwise not be heard.

Since 1982, AIM has continuously provided a video production equipment, facilities, training, and access to a basic cable television channel to all on a first-come, first-served basis. Our members use their skills to produce powerful local media content that highlights the people, places, organizations, businesses and events in our community. Our video programming can be found on in Arlington County on the two public access cable television channels we operate: Comcast channel 69 and Verizon channel 38.

AIM’s mission is to provide the public with access to media production equipment and facilities and our audience with quality local radio, television and online content. We operate a state-of-the-art programming and production facility that includes a TV studio, editing suites, special effects workstations, a live radio studio, an audio recording and mixing studio, and location video and audio equipment.

AIM has been named America's best community media organization 10 times. We actively lobby for First Amendment protections and opportunities in the media. We reach out to diverse communities within the metropolitan area to make certain that their voices are being heard. We are located on the Orange & Silver Line Metro in the Clarendon section of Arlington.

With the historic launch of WERA-LP 96.7 FM in December 2015, AIM continues to serve the needs of the diverse population of Arlington County and the DC metro area in exciting new ways. Take a look at our class offerings and consider becoming a member to take advantage of everything we have to offer.
