    About The Internet Society (ISOC) The Internet Society’s mission is to promote the open development, evolution, and use of the Internet for the benefit of all people throughout the world. The organization is headquartered in Reston, VA, and Geneva Switzerland. It has over 120 Chapters worldwide as well as several global Special Interest Groups (SIGs). The Internet Society: Facilitates open development of standards, protocols, administration, and the technical infrastructure of the Internet. Supports education in developing countries specifically, and wherever the need exists. Promotes professional development and builds community to foster participation and leadership in areas important to the evolution of the Internet. Provides reliable information about the Internet. Provides forums for discussion of issues that affect Internet evolution, development and use in technical, commercial, societal, and other contexts.

    About the Chapter

    The San Francisco Bay Area (SF Bay Area) Chapter was incorporated in 2009. It is a registered 501(c)3 not-for-profit and serves the San Francisco Bay Area as well as wider California by promoting the core values of the Internet Society. All Chapters are run autonomously according to local law/regulation but must adhere to global ISOC mission , vision and guiding principles.
