Mission
We can’t open our doors without the help of volunteers. This volunteer opportunity will see you making a difference while working with some fine eco-fashion. The energy is contagious as you work within a dynamic team of committed women. Retail, promotions marketing, and merchandising are just a few of the opportunities at BWSS’s retail program.
My Sisters Closet is a social enterprise of Battered Women’s Support Services that provides education, advocacy, and support services to assist all women in its aim to work towards the elimination of violence and to work from a feminist perspective that promotes equality for all women. The revenue generated by My Sister’s Closet directly funds the support services and programs BWSS provides thousands of girls and women each year.
About Us
A bit about My Sister’s Closet ~ we are an eco-thrift boutique accepting women and men’s clothing and accessories. We sell EVERYTHING from economical brands to luxury designer goods! We have two convenient locations, 1092 Seymour Street and 1830 Commercial Drive.
What it takes to be a volunteer:
* Ability to work with the public providing customer service in a retail environment
* Ability to work as a team and be open to feedback and directiona commitment to one 4 hour shift each week for at least 3 months
* Willingness to learn merchandising - sorting, organizing clothing donations
* Engagement with shoppers and donors
* Light cleaning and store maintenance
* Creating a welcoming and safe space for all
