About Us

Habitat for Humanity of Metro Louisville, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry dedicated to eliminating substandard housing and homelessness, was established in 1985. Having built more than 300 homes since then, we are one of the top-producing Habitat for Humanity affiliates in the country and one of the top 12 home builders in Metro Louisville.

Using volunteer labor and donations of money and materials, Habitat builds and rehabilitates simple, decent houses with the help of the homeowner families. Families invest hundreds of hours of their own "sweat-equity" labor into their houses. Habitat houses are sold to partner families at no profit, financed with zero interest loans. The homeowners' monthly mortgage paymnets are used to build more Habitat houses.
