About Us

The Nuhop Center started as a residential summer camp for children with learning disabilities and behavior disorders in 1974. Our main mission for summer camp is to provide children who, due to their disabilities, are not often able to have a traditional summer camp experience. Our goal for our summer campers is to provide a safe and nurturing environment where they can work on social skills and simply make a friend.

During the early 80's The Nuhop Center expanded it's organization to include outdoor education for middle school students from around Ohio. Our outdoor education program is a 3 to 5 day residential experience. Our curriculum is designed to focus on Ohio state Academic Standards with a focus on environmental education, while still incorporating our mission from summer camp to improve social and emotional skills. Our classes for outdoor education include (but are not limited to): geology, ecology, compass skills, canoeing, survival skills, high and low ropes course.

The Nuhop Center also offers extensive teambuilding programs for different groups, such as corporate orgnizations, clubs and sports teams, and college groups.
