About Us

The PEDestrian ART (PED ART) Project is a public sculpture program intended to serve as an economic, cultural, and visual stimulus for The New Hanover County region. The non-profit organization, CreativeWilmington, in partnership with the City of Wilmington Downtown Services, and Mayfaire Town Center has selected sites in the Central Business District (CBD) of downtown Wilmington and on Mayfaire Property to make art accessible to the general public.

Sculptures are placed at:

Three on Riverwalk, at the entrances to the scenic walkway along the Cape Fear riverfront Two in Bijou Park located on the 200 block of North Front Street Three at Mayfaire Town Center

The outdoor sculptures selected for exhibition will demonstrate a wide range of artistic styles, themes, and mediums, and they will challenge viewers’ concepts of space, form and imagination.

PED ART views public art as integral to a community's fabric by recognizing the potential of art to create livable cities, enhance neighborhood identity, strengthen economic development and tourism, educate children and adults, and enrich the spirit and pride of its citizens.
