Josephine's Place

Josephine's Place is a storefront center that was established in Elizabeth by the Sisters of Charity of Saint Elizabeth in October 2003 to serve the needs of women. It provides women a place and an opportunity to "uncover" their own gifts, talents and strengths in a holistic environment where they are affirmed, supported and respected. Programs and activities are created in response to requests from the women who then recruit others to participate. Whether they come together to learn, celebrate, pray, or just chat, the women know that Josephine's Place belongs to them. Classes in English, computer basics, knitting, sewing, and exercise were begun in response to the women's expressed needs. All classes are taught by volunteers who share their knowledge and expertise with the women. Some of the women in turn become volunteers, sharing what they have learned with others.
