  • Mission

The mission of Meals on Wheels New Mexico (MOW) is to deliver healthy meals and friendship--neighbor to neighbor, by providing hot, nourishing, home delivered meals and social contact. By doing so, MOW works towards preventing clients from entering nursing homes or long-term care facilities prematurely due to improper diet, malnutrition, or neglect.

    About Us

MOW is an almost entirely volunteer run organization which prepares regular and special medical diet meals in its own kitchen. Meals are then delivered to clients by volunteers driving 38 routes covering the Albuquerque metropolitan area, Rio Rancho, and Corrales. Whenever possible, clients pay for their meals; other clients receive their meals free through grants and fundraising.

Meals on Wheels New Mexico History:

Meals on Wheels New Mexico, founded in 1972, began with 20 clients and 40 volunteers. In 2019, we served over 146,000 meals to more than 1,300 clients.

We have an army of more than 500 volunteers involved in some phase of meal delivery to clients throughout Albuquerque, Corrales, and Rio Rancho. Over 1.8 million meals have been prepared and delivered by our faithful staff and volunteers!
