    The Pinkerton Foundation is an independent grantmaking foundation created by Robert A. Pinkerton in 1966 with current assets of approximately $94 million. Its grantmaking encompasses projects that foster the healthy development of children and youth growing up in poor urban communities with a particular interest in New York City community based programs operating in the non-school hours. In calendar year 2008 the Foundation made grants totaling $6.6 million to grantees mainly in New York City.
