MISSION STATEMENT[1]

The mission of Schenley Heights Community Development Program is to nurture, support and develop our community through wholesome programs that address the academic, moral, cultural, health and recreational needs of our children, youth and their families in the Hill District and Metropolitan Pittsburgh. To meet this very important mission, SHCDP develops year-round meaningful educational and social initiatives that complement the School District of Pittsburgh’s efforts.

Schenley Heights Community Development Program (SHCDP), Schenley Heights for Youth, is a 501(c) 3 non-profit community and faith-based organization. SHCDP was established in 1995 as a vehicle of hope to the community and to provide an alternative to crime and other socially destructive activities that too often plague inner city and low-income communities. The organization’s target population is Pittsburgh’s urban youth and families in the Hill District. Through a variety of thriving ventures, SHCDP exposes participants ages 3-18 to various endeavors that promote academic and life successes as well as behavioral and physical wellness. SHDCP has implemented effective out of school time programming for over 18 years that served as a model for like organizations both locally and nationally.
