    From the moment you see the Athenaeum, you know this is a special place. Despite its stunning German Renaissance Revival architectural charm and soaring stained glass windows, it’s more than just a building. The Athenaeum has been home to milestone memories and part of the life fabric of Indianapolis families for generations. Opened in 1898, the Das Deutsche Haus was built as a "house of culture" for the mind and body. Today, that spirit is still alive and well. Here, we’re committed to propelling the arts - focusing on theatrical performances, art installations and unique programs and events in some of the most memorable settings in the city.
