Vision Into Action

Vision into Action (VIA) is a community-based group formed in 2009 to move us closer to achieving Portland’s vision for 2030. We are building on an unprecedented, two-year civic engagement effort that involved 17,000 community members from every walk of life in creating a shared vision for the city’s future.

Our Mission is to increase the ability of all people of Portland to shape the future of their neighborhoods, city, and region in alignment with their values and priorities. We seek to be a catalyst for concrete actions that will move us closer to realizing the future we want for ourselves and for future generations.

Philosophy & Core Values:

As the keeper of the community vision of 2030 set forth by visionPDX, Vision Into Action is in charge of oversight and communication regarding the status of the vision by:

1. Facilitating the engagement of communities and populations whose voices are under-represented in public decision-making and planning processes

2. Helping organizations, businesses, neighborhoods and governments to align their efforts with the community vision for 2030

3. Advocating for projects and policies that align with the vision for 2030 articulated by 17,000 Portland area residents who participated in visionPDX
