About Us

The mission of Upward Bound House (UBH) is to eliminate homelessness among families with children in Los Angeles by providing housing, supportive services, and advocacy. We strive to reduce the number of homeless families with minor children, by helping them access resources, build skills, strengthen health and wellness, and successfully transition into their own homes with the capacity to maintain housing. UBH operates the following Interim Housing and Permanent Housing programs:

Family Place, located in Santa Monica, consists of 21 one-bedroom apartments and provides medium-term housing for families in transition to permanent housing. Family Shelter, located in Culver City, consists of 18 efficiency units and provides short-term housing for families in crisis. Interim Housing South Los Angeles, consists of 36 scattered site housing units and provides short-term housing for families in crisis. Bright Futures Transition Age Youth Transitional Housing in South LA, consists of 14 transitional housing units and provides medium-term housing for pregnant or parenting youth.

Permanent Housing programs including Rapid Rehousing SLA, Family Reunification Housing Subsidy, and Housing For Health, operate in South Los Angeles and provide permanent housing options to move families into housing as quickly as possible. Our Stabilization Program then provides comprehensive services in their homes, to address whatever barriers to family well-being and independent living, as they work towards self-sufficiency.
